Large areas in south and north Stockholm had power failures around eight pm on Monday the 18 May. According to Svenska Dagbladet (svd) it was over 6200 housholds.

Fredrik Ullman, engineer at the electric company Fortum, says to TT that they do not yet know the reasons behind the power failure. He says also that it was pure coincidence that the power cut happened in both south and north Stockholm at the same time.

Emergency electricians were sent out to locate and fix the problem. At around 11.30 pm, most of the failure was repaired and most households had their electricity back.

Most of the affected households were located in Akalla, Kista, Högdalen and Hökarängen.
