Veronica Palm was chosen yesterday as the new chairman of the Social Democrats in Stockholm. She takes over from Bosse Ringholm, most famous for being minister in the social democratic government 1999-2006.

According to Svenska Dagbladet, there are high expectations on Mrs Palm.

- This feels grand. It is no secret that the coming elections will be fought in the big cities, above all in Stockholm, she says to Svenska Dagbladet.

Veronica Palm was born 1973 and grew up in Linköping. She has worked as a children´s nurse and parallel with this she has made a political career in the Social Democratic party.

Since 2002 Mrs Palm has been a member of the Swedish Riksdag with a focus on social security issues. She is also married to the Stockholm Social Democratic politician Roger Mogert.
